Women in Aviation International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to
the encouragement and advancement of women in all aviation career fields
and interests.
— WAI

Unlike many organizations, WAI membership is not exclusive to women; anyone dedicated to promoting inclusion and visibility of women in aviation can join!

One of the most common comments our members hear is: “Oh, I’m not a pilot, I can’t join”

However, a large percentage of WAI members do not hold a pilot’s license.
A snapshot of some of our local members include:

Commercial Pilot / Flight Attendant
Maintenance personnel
Air Traffic Control
FBO management / employee
Military
Aviation Enthusiasts
Men who see the need for the support and encouragement of women in the aviation field.
Students not currently employed in aviation

While there are many great benefits of membership with WAI, the Lakeland Chapter is specifically dedicated to the following:

Creating a local community where female aviation professionals can find a sense of belonging and connect with other like-minded professionals.

Promoting awareness of job opportunities available within the aviation field to girls and women who might otherwise not have exposure to these opportunities.

Mentorship between successful aviation professionals and the next generation through the creation of genuine and personal relationships.

To provide monetary support through scholarships to members who are looking to better themselves and further their aviation careers.
